Shaun Kollannur is a Senior AI Engineer at Unico Connect, where he takes AI systems from working prototype to production service. He builds retrieval augmented generation pipelines on LangChain, FAISS and PostgreSQL, and agentic workflows that run multi step reasoning and exception handling against real enterprise data. Before Unico Connect he worked as an AI and machine learning engineer in Chicago, shipping classification pipelines that cut manual email processing by more than 90 percent, architecting multi tenant single sign on with OAuth 2.0 and SAML 2.0, and putting MLOps practice around experiment tracking and model versioning with MLflow. His research background is applied computer vision and natural language processing, including a convolutional recurrent network for reading handwritten medical prescriptions that reached clinical pilots, and work on the FHIR based National Digital Health Mission framework. He holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Chicago. He writes about evaluation, observability and the measurement that tells you whether an AI system is actually working.
