Overview
Unico Connect is seeking a Senior QA Engineer (Manual) to own QA strategy across multiple client engagements. The role builds test plans for complex features, leads release sign-off, mentors junior QA engineers, and partners with engineering on shift-left quality practices. The position is well suited to senior QA engineers with deep methodology knowledge and the capacity to lead UAT with international clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Own QA strategy for 2-3 concurrent client products
- Lead release sign-off; run UAT with clients and stakeholders
- Mentor 2-3 junior QA engineers; lead QA process improvements
- Build comprehensive regression suites; partner with QA Automation on automation coverage
- Define quality metrics including escaped defect rate, test coverage, and mean time to repair
- Drive shift-left practices including PR reviews, contract testing, and exploratory testing in dev
- Author internal QA playbooks, checklists, and onboarding documentation
- Calibrate the QA interview bar and conduct senior interview loops
- Lead production incident triage from a quality perspective
- Govern compliance testing for regulated client projects (SOC 2, HIPAA)
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of QA or testing with at least 2 in a lead role
- Deep understanding of QA methodologies, risk-based testing, and exploratory testing
- Hands-on with test management systems (TestRail, Zephyr, Xray) and bug trackers (Jira, Linear)
- Strong SQL for data verification and back-end testing
- Familiar with API testing (Postman, REST Assured)
- Excellent stakeholder communication and release management
- Track record of mentoring junior QA engineers
- Capacity to lead UAT sessions with international clients
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- ISTQB Advanced or equivalent certifications
- Performance or security testing exposure
- Mobile testing on real-device farms (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs)
- Hands-on with Playwright or Cypress (for review of automation suites)
- Conference talks on QA practices
AI Tools Proficiency
