Overview
Unico Connect is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to lead test automation strategy across client engagements. The role architects test frameworks, drives coverage across web, mobile, and API, and integrates LLM-augmented test generation into the QA workflow. The position is well suited to senior automation engineers with deep Playwright or Cypress expertise and a track record of leading framework decisions at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and maintain test automation frameworks across web, mobile, and API
- Lead AI-augmented test generation including LLM-from-spec and golden-set evaluation
- Drive CI/CD integration including parallelisation, test sharding, and flaky-test isolation
- Mentor 2-3 junior automation engineers through code reviews on test code
- Set automation standards including page objects, fixtures, test data, and selector strategy
- Partner with engineering on contract testing and shift-left strategies
- Author internal automation playbooks and onboarding documentation
- Calibrate the automation interview bar and conduct senior interview loops
- Govern automation security including credentials management and sensitive data handling
- Lead production incident triage from a test-coverage perspective
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of QA automation with at least 2 in a lead role
- Deep Playwright or Cypress expertise in production
- Strong TypeScript or JavaScript, or Python
- Production experience with mobile automation (Appium, Detox, Maestro)
- Hands-on with CI/CD at scale including parallel test execution, retry strategies, and reporting
- Familiar with performance testing (k6, JMeter) and visual regression
- Track record of mentoring junior automation engineers
- Capacity to lead client conversations on test strategy
- Excellent code review and written communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

- Open-source contributions to QA tooling
- Conference talks on QA automation
- Security testing (OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite)
- Contract testing with Pact
- Chaos engineering exposure
AI Tools Proficiency
