Overview
Unico Connect is seeking a Frontend Developer (React) to build production user interfaces for client web products. The role spans component implementation, accessibility, performance, and the partnership with designers and backend engineers that ensures pixel-perfect production output. The position is well suited to early-career frontend engineers with strong React and TypeScript fundamentals and a good visual eye.
Key Responsibilities
- Build production React and Next.js apps with TypeScript
- Translate Figma designs into pixel-perfect, responsive, accessible components
- Implement state management with TanStack Query, Zustand, or Redux Toolkit
- Write unit tests (Vitest or Testing Library) and end-to-end tests (Playwright)
- Optimise Core Web Vitals, bundle size, and SEO
- Collaborate closely with designers and backend engineers during feature development
- Pair with senior frontend engineers on architecture decisions and code reviews
- Participate in incident response for owned frontends
- Maintain technical documentation for owned components and patterns
- Contribute to shared design system components and internal libraries
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- 1-3 years of React with TypeScript in production
- Working knowledge of Next.js (App Router or Pages Router)
- Comfort with CSS, Tailwind, and CSS-in-JS
- Familiarity with Git, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD
- Good visual eye; capacity to match designer specs precisely
- Solid understanding of accessibility basics and responsive design
- Working knowledge of state management patterns
- Excellent written communication for pull requests and design conversations
- Capacity to read backend code well enough to scope frontend-backend integrations
Preferred Qualifications
- Server components and streaming experience
- Storybook and component-driven development
- Motion (Framer Motion, GSAP)
- Hands-on with design tokens and Figma dev mode
- Open-source contributions
AI Tools Proficiency
Production engineering at Unico Connect assumes AI tools form part of the daily workflow rather than an experimental augmentation. For this role specifically:
- Cursor or Claude Code as a daily coding driver
- v0 or Bolt for component scaffolding
- GitHub Copilot for inline code suggestions
- Figma Dev Mode with AI assistance for handoff
