Overview
Unico Connect is seeking a DevOps Engineer to build and operate the cloud infrastructure for client products across GCP and AWS, with Azure where projects require it. The role spans CI/CD maintenance, container orchestration, observability, and the cloud migration work that takes products from on-prem or one cloud to another. The position is well suited to early-career DevOps engineers with hands-on cloud and Kubernetes experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines including GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, and CodePipeline
- Operate Docker containers and Kubernetes workloads on GKE and EKS
- Provision infrastructure with Terraform on GCP and AWS
- Manage cloud services including GCP (Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud SQL, GCS) and AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, ECS, EKS, Lambda)
- Set up monitoring and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring, CloudWatch)
- Support migration projects across cloud providers and from on-prem
- Pair with Senior DevOps Engineers on architecture decisions and reviews
- Participate in on-call rotations for production infrastructure
- Maintain runbooks and onboarding documentation for shared infrastructure
- Contribute to internal Terraform modules and shared CI/CD templates
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 1-3 years of DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering
- Strong Linux, Bash, and Git fundamentals
- Hands-on with Docker and at least basic Kubernetes
- Production experience with GCP or AWS
- Working knowledge of Terraform and at least 1 CI/CD platform
- Familiarity with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
- Working understanding of networking concepts (VPC, load balancing, DNS)
- Solid scripting skills in Bash and Python
- Excellent written communication for runbook and incident documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Azure exposure (App Services, AKS)
- Service mesh experience (Istio, Linkerd)
- Security scanning (Trivy, Snyk)
- Hands-on with GitOps tooling (ArgoCD, Flux)
- Cloud certifications (GCP ACE, AWS Solutions Architect Associate)
AI Tools Proficiency
Production engineering at Unico Connect assumes AI tools form part of the daily workflow rather than an experimental augmentation. For this role specifically:
- Cursor or Claude Code for Terraform and YAML work
- Claude or ChatGPT for incident triage and post-mortem drafting
- AI-augmented Grafana, Datadog, or Honeycomb workflows
- Perplexity for cloud documentation research
